The essential advantages of compact fluorescent lamps are their long service life and the reduced energy consumption, especially when using electronic control gear. Their compact dimensions and energy efficiency makes them ideal for use in downlights. There is no formal distinction between washlights and downlights.

The internal washlight reflector directs the light uniformly onto the wall, while the downlight effect remains unchanged. All the Lightcast washlights have cast aluminium housings which are designed to provide optimum thermal properties according to their respective technical requirements. Other typical Lightcast features are the cast aluminium mounting ring and the four-point mounting which allows luminaires to be installed without tools. The Darklight technology combines the maximum visual comfort with the maximum light output ratio.
The DALI compatible luminaires feature digitally addressable control gear, which can individually address every single luminaire, i.e. using the ERCO DALI Light System and the pre-programmed ERCO Light Studio software
