Low-voltage halogen lamps are more energy efficient than conventional incandescent lamps. They retain their brilliant light, power and colour throughout their life. Low-voltage halogen lamps are small and robust; they come in various sizes and wattages and can be capsule or available as reflector lamps, i.e. with metal or coolbeam reflectors. In their basic form, downlights direct light downwards in narrow or wide beams. They are normally used to provide ambient lighting. It therefore makes sense to equip downlights installed in particularly glare-sensitive areas - say, over conference tables - with correspondingly high cut-off reflectors.

The Lightcast downlights have cast aluminium housings which are designed to provide optimum thermal properties according to their respective technical requirements. Other typical Lightcast features include the mounting ring - in cast aluminium - and the four-point mounting for tool-free installation. The Darklight technology combines the maximum visual comfort with the maximum light output ratio.
The DALI-compatible luminaires have digital control gear through which each luminaire can be individually addressed - for instance using the ERCO Light System DALI with its integral ERCO Light Studio software.
