Tungsten halogen lamps operate on mains voltage and have similar characteristics to general service lamps, but offer, higher luminous efficacy and functional life. They are dimmed using conventional dimmers for incandescent lamps, due to the continuous spectrum the light emitted has an exceptional colour rendition quality. For this reason, luminaires for tungsten halogen lamps are particularly suitable for use in public or communication areas, especially if the warm white colour of incandescent lamps is required to contrast with areas with neutral or daylight-white fluorescent light.
In their basic form, downlights direct light downwards in narrow or wide beams and can especially be used to produce ambient lighting. The Lightcast downlights have cast aluminium housings which are designed to provide optimum thermal properties according to their respective technical requirements. Other typical Lightcast features are the cast aluminium mounting ring and the four-point mounting which allows luminaires to be installed without tools. Furthermore, with some types of lamps, a patented diffuser provides a lamp cover for the Darklight reflector compartment. This enables a wide light distribution for a uniform downlight illumination, while retaining the well-established Darklight technology. The Darklight technology combines the maximum visual comfort with the maximum light output ratio.
