Lens wallwashers

Special lens reflector systems ensure highly uniform wall illumination. The darklight reflectors which are visible from below are glare-free. The lens wallwashers are ideal for numerous applications including lighting in museums, exhibitions or other prestigious venues.

Focal lens wallwashers

The lens wallwashers with a focused section of the beam are designed for the illumination of walls in sales and presentation areas. They add an additional highlight in the upper third of the illuminated wall. An application is the illumination of displays above shelves.

Double focus downlight

The lighting technology of the double focus downlights directs light downwards in wide beams. The double focus allows a very small light aperture.

Downlights with wide diffuser

The downlights with a wide diffuser emit a conical beam of light downwards. They provide ambient lighting; ideal for rooms with ceiling heights of up to 3-4m, achieving good and uniform horizontal illuminance.

Downlights with focal diffuser

The clear centre of the focal diffuser allows part of the light to pass through with high brilliance and intensity. The frosted edge creates a peripheral zone with a softly decreasing gradient for high visual comfort.

Downlights with narrow diffuser

The narrow diffuser focuses the light into a narrow, downwardly projected beam. It enables accent light to be projected from above in order to highlight objects in their surroundings using brightness contrast.

Directional luminaires

Directional luminaires are used in applications where objects on walls or in the room are to be accentuated such as in exhibitions or in shops. The beams can be tilted up to 30° from the vertical axis and rotated through 360°.

Efficient lamps

The search for ever greater efficiency finds expression in the large proportion of Quintessence LED products. The advantages of high-power LEDs include excellent luminous efficacy, long life, good colour rendition and optimum dimmability. The Quintessence range also includes well-proven, efficient light sources such as metal halide lamps and compact fluorescent lamps. Exceptional heat management confirms that Quintessence luminaires are designed for optimum continuous operation.

LED
LEDs excel due to their exceptionally high energy efficiency and low IR and UV radiation. They are comparable with metal halide lamps in terms of luminous efficacy, while being dimmable and capable of hot restart.

Low-voltage halogen lamps
Low-voltage halogen lamps produce brilliant light, while their continuous spectrum results in excellent colour rendition. Dimming the light causes the light spectrum to shift towards the range of longer wavelengths.

High-pressure discharge lamps
The high-pressure discharge lamps and particularly the metal halide lamps excel due to exceptionally high energy efficiency and a long service life resulting in low operating costs.

Compact fluorescent lamps
Compact fluorescent lamps have been enjoying triumphal success as energy-saving lamps for several years now. The essential advantages of this lamp are their exceptionally long service life and excellent luminous efficacy.

Cut-off angle

Using modern simulation programs, the Quintessence reflectors have been optimised for efficient visual comfort. The ERCO darklight reflectors combine maximum visual comfort, high light output ratio and a balanced relationship between the horizontal and the vertical illuminance. As long as the light source lies within the reflector´s cut-off area, there will be no high luminances on the darklight reflector and glare will not be experienced. For higher visual comfort, it is recommended that the higher cut-off angle is selected, especially in high-ceilinged, prestigious rooms or for desk activities, for instance.

30° cut-off angle
Quintessence luminaires with a cut-off angle of 30° achieve high vertical illuminance with highly uniform illuminance on the floor even with low ceiling heights. This cutoff angle provides sufficient glare control combined with a very high light output ratio.

40° cut-off angle
The recessed luminaires with a cut-off angle of 40° provide a balanced ratio of horizontal and vertical illuminances and good uniformity for the horizontal illuminance. The very good UGR values are documentary evidence of excellent visual comfort.

Control gear

All Quintessence recessed luminaires require control gear and depending on the actual article, some control gear is connected to the luminaire. Luminaires which include control gear have the DALI control gear factory encoded. This enables the installer to operate the luminaires via plug and play because of the automatic recognition.

Luminaires with DALI control gear
Every luminaire with a DALI control gear provides the benefit of factory encoding. Through this encoding, the Light Studio software automatically recognises the luminaire and makes luminaire-specific information and functions available, enabling easy commissioning that fully exploits the advantages of networking.

Separate control gear
The required DALI control gear units can be ordered separately. In this case, they will still be encoded, but the assignment of article or properties, which is required for improved overview in the Light Studio software, must then be made manually. The control gear units will then perform as Light Clients.

DALI switching actuator
The DALI switching actuator allows a group of Quintessence recessed luminaires to be integrated into the Light System DALI. The switching actuator has two independent addresses, enabling two groups of luminaires to be controlled. To differentiate between several switching actuators, names are assigned manually in the Light Studio software.

Effective lighting technology

Modern lighting technology such as Spherolit reflectors and optoelectronic systems contribute to Quintessence´s unique combination of high light output ratio and visual comfort. The highly diversified toolbox of the Quintessence product range enables the lighting distribution to be tuned to suit the specific lighting task - an essential prerequisite for efficient lighting solutions. Light sources with exceptional luminous efficacy and long functional life are available in the form of high-power LEDs, high-pressure discharge lamps and compact fluorescent lamps. Quintessence´s innovative light guidance systems optimally exploit the potential of these light sources.

Spherolit lenses and collimating lenses
The lighting technology behind LED light sources is within the ambit of ERCO´s core competences. The Quintessence directional luminaires with LEDs feature lens systems designed and built by ERCO. The collimating lens firstly directs the light into a parallel beam and then the Spherolit lens precisely produces the required beam angle.

Spherolit reflectors
ERCO´s patented reflector technology optimally combines visual comfort and efficiency. They are used both as upper reflectors and as wallwasher segments in the darklight reflectors. The different geometries of the computer-calculated spherolites on the reflector surface enable the reflector characteristics to be exactly controlled over a wide range.

Darklight reflector and diffuser for high visual comfort
The darklight reflector ensures maximum visual comfort with optimum light output ratio. Furthermore, to prevent glare, the high luminance of the light source is dispersed using the diffuser technology.

Spherolit technology
The design of the innovative spherolites in the reflector is ideal for producing brilliant light. In this photo the diffuser has been removed to reveal the detail. The surface consists of computer-calculated, spherically domed segments.

Heat management
The heat management of Quintessence creates the optimum conditions for continuous operation. This enables the light source and heat-sensitive components to achieve their full service life and emit maximum luminous flux.

Varychrome RGBW

In the Quintessence downlight product range, ERCO presents luminaires with LEDs and varychrome RGBW technology. By combining RGB colour mixing with white LEDs, these luminaires can optionally produce either white light with variable colour temperature at high luminous flux and good colour rendition or coloured light ranging from differentiated pastel hues to highly saturated colours. Light Studio has a corresponding attribute for controlling these luminaires.This consists either of a colour circle (which will be familiar to users of previous varychrome luminaires) or a slider control to regulate the colour of white along the Planckian locus from cool to warm. The varychrome RGBW control gear units comply with the restandardised DALI type and therefore only require one DALI address in spite of having four control channels.

Within the coloured area of the CIE diagram, the Planckian locus traces the whites of different colour temperatures - from bluish cool white to reddish warm white.

Light Clients with the varychrome RGBW attribute allow the colour temperature to be continuously adjusted over a wide range.
