In their basic form, downlights direct light downwards in narrow or wide beams. They are predominantly used for general lighting or to augment general lighting by way of accents. Low-voltage halogen reflector lamps up to 50W/12V and 35W metal halide lamps are to be used in size 4. 70W metal halide lamps are to be used in size 7. A version with a 35W metal halide lamp is offered with a focal diffuser for increased brilliance in the centre. Luminaires with double or quadruple reflectors are also provided for the TC-L lamp versions.

Lens wallwashers have special lens reflection systems to ensure uniform wall illumination. The light is spread by a lens and directed onto the wall by a wallwasher reflector. The Darklight reflectors are visible from below; they are glare-free and provide a very high visual comfort with their 50° cut-off angle. Coloured LEDs are used for the Varychrome technology in the size 4 version. The LED varychrome luminaires have a colour compensation feature to correct the LED manufacturing tolerance. Size 4 is also offered for 50W low-voltage halogen lamps and 20W metal halide lamps. In size 7, the metal halide lamp is available up to 70W. The reflectors of the lens wallwashers are designed to fit a square shape. However, one side of the reflector is shaped as a wallwasher element.

Above the square Darklight reflectors, the reflector lamps emit a beam of light vertically downwards, they can be rotated through 360° and tilted up to 20°. The size 4 luminaires all have a cut-off angle of 40°.
