Qualitative lighting design
Careful, perception-oriented lighting design uses light specifically where it meets the requirements of the user: vertical lighting, for example, provides a subjectively high impression of brightness in a room. In the same manner, regulated accent lighting is usually more effective than the provision of a blanket high level of lighting.
