Due to their long life, discharge lamps have an advantage over normal incandescent lamps and tungsten halogen lamps: extended maintenance cycles significantly improve the quality of performance of the luminaires. Together with high luminous flux and outstanding energy efficiency, they retain their colour throughout their long life. Directional luminaires have a glare-free Darklight reflector and, like the downlights of the same design, are designed to be recess-mounted in ceilings. Directed perpendicularly, they produce light comparable to that of conventional downlights.
The ability of the lamp and reflector to be tilted through up to 15° from the vertical and be rotated through 360° horizontally is characteristic for directional luminaires. This allows the beam to be aimed at almost any area of the room, to provide the intended lighting accentuation. Furthermore, with the sculpture lens, a directional luminaire can produce an even vertical illuminance. High protection mode directional luminaires are suitable especially for the transitional areas between indoors and outdoors. In indoor areas where protection against moisture or dust is required, they ensure high-quality lighting even in these harsh environmental conditions.
