Because the direct component of the light from the LEDs is shielded, this is a totally indirect lighting system. This ensures very high glare control and good visual comfort. The luminous flux of the LEDs is defined by the reflector. The reflector produces a widespread light distribution across the step. The front lens surface, however, maintains a low luminance. Glass and housing are bonded together to ensure impenetrability and is in keeping with the minimalist design of the luminaire.
