ERCO Innovations 2017: Systematic approach to light

As a leading specialist in architectural and office lighting with premium lighting tools we are passionate about supporting creative and technical designers with luminaire systems designed for maximum flexibility. Thanks to our wide variety of luminaire categories and designs, sizes, lumen packages and light distributions as well as variable wattages and dimming methods, ERCO lighting tools have become the preferred choice for museums and galleries, and today are just as much at home in offices, fashion stores and car dealerships, opera foyers, hotels, parks and train stations. Driven once more by our fascination with precision technology, we have applied our approach to understand light in the system to the development of a product range for 2017 with a consistently modular structure, offering highly variable solutions for any given task in perceptionorientated lighting design.

With this in mind, all ERCO spotlights and recessed luminaires have the same wide spectrum of light distributions – with identical emission angles and light colours across all our ranges. Systematic diversity in design and function also features as a characteristic of ERCO recessed luminaires. The new Compar range of lighting tools delivers light distributions previously defined by round or square ceiling apertures in a striking linear design.

Compar enables perception-orientated lighting design that considers the effects of light in its spatial context alongside the ceiling design. The vast creative scope of the five light distributions enables the designer to break away from the traditional matrix layout and instead implement a zonal lighting concept that accommodates flexible use of space.

Compar – Powerhouse for linear aesthetics

Compar gives architects, lighting designers and engineers broad scope for creative precision: With this range of innovative recessed luminaires, ERCO has extended the spectrum of round and square recessed lighting tools with a striking linear design. The slim luminaires – available from a width of 52mm – offer a subtle decorative detail in the ceiling whilst providing extremely efficient lighting tools with high standards of visual comfort. Variable light distribution options for differentiated general and office lighting make Compar an ideal solution for any high-quality architectural environment. The new oval wide flood light distribution developed by ERCO meets the requirements of glare control for office projects (UGR<19). Compar is an aesthetic alternative to conventional linear luminaires and fluorescent lamps, making it superb for individual, ceiling-integrated lighting concepts in administration buildings, restaurants, cultural facilities and offices.

Oseris gives the designer complete creative freedom in the design of strikingly unique lighting concepts for product or artwork presentation. As an elegant design feature, the spotlight with the characteristic semispherical hinge ensures maximum flexibility.

Oseris – The pivotal feature

Oseris is a brilliant concept designed to enrich the world of digital lighting – the swivel joint is bevelled flush against the semispherical light head for a slick design. As well as enhancing the aesthetic appeal of the lighting tool, the idea behind this feature is to facilitate precise alignment – and to provide added value in tight spaces such as ceiling channels.

Oseris spotlights feature Spherolit lenses that enable a wide range of light distributions, and with various sizes and wattages, achieve a variety of lumen packages to allow for differentiated lighting concepts with maximum freedom in design. The control gear is housed in the ERCO transadapter. Snoots are available as accessories for any situation requiring optimum glare control. This makes Oseris an exceptionally versatile lighting tool that lends itself for use in shops and museums as well as high-end residences: compact, precise and efficient – Oseris evokes character and charm with striking features that add to the already impressive diversity of spotlight designs in the ERCO range.

Control gear for flawless performance

ERCO now offers many spotlights with two additional lumen packages for each size. For example, a spotlight with 3 LEDs is now available with a connected load of 8W and a luminous flux of the luminaire of 551lm as well as with a connected load of 12W and a luminous flux of the luminaire of 740lm. This provides the designer with a precision lighting tool to suit any application – from differentiated illumination for valuable objects based on strict conservation criteria to intense light for an open and welcoming ambience in the shop.
Control gear options for all ERCO spotlights include DALI, potentiometer, phase dimmable and switchable, with an impressive dimming range fading smoothly from 100% down to 0.1%. Developed in-house, the ERCO control gear integrated in the spotlights guarantees superior quality.

New light distribution: extra wide flood

All our spotlights with interchangeable Spherolit lenses now include extra wide flood as an additional rotationally symmetrical light distribution. With an exceptionally wide emission angle of 90° equal to the downlight characteristics in the ERCO luminaire system, ERCO spotlights now offer maximised flexibility and efficiency whether it be for uniform flooding illumination of objects from a short distance or for flexible general lighting with large luminaire spacing for uniform distribution in the room.

Gimbal combines highly efficient photometrics and technoid aesthetic with the flexibility required for striking retail concepts. With its gimbal suspension, the recessed lighting tool ensures that the light particularly in high rooms arrives precisely on the target surface, and with seven light distributions offers sophisticated solutions for many and diverse applications.

Gimbal

Gimbal suspension is widely prevalent in technology and is a concept that is as old as Leonardo da Vinci, who suggested its use for nautical compasses. In lighting technology, gimbals are an elegant solution for pinpoint adjustment of the luminaires. Gimbal recessed spotlights transform this principle into the era of digital lighting – with a highly precise and convenient swivel mechanism in a compact design that stands apart from conventional approaches and enables shallow recess depths. Different sizes and wattages for the full spectrum of light distributions make Gimbal ideal as a system for differentiated lighting design with focus on the highcontrast presentation of objects. With its unique technoid appearance in the ceiling, Gimbal lends itself perfectly to retail projects as well as to museums and other public buildings.

The Skim surface-mounted luminaire offers a robust yet straightforward lighting solution for challenging situations where formidable ceilings or existing cable outlets hamper installation. The flat cylinder with the characteristic lens system inherent to the Skim range achieves efficient illumination with large luminaire spacing in rooms of any size.

Skim – Lighting design for any architecture

Skim as a surface-mounted downlight is designed for ceiling structures that prevent recessed mounting. It features the same characteristic lens system made of optical polymer as the Skim range of recessed luminaires. Available with different distribution options and in sizes 3 and 5, Skim surface-mounted luminaires combine efficiency with visual comfort, making them ideal for a wide variety of applications: in offices and administration buildings, shops and public places. The exclusive, flat design of the housing made of cast aluminium ensures sophisticated thermal management. Skim surface-mounted luminaires are a straightforward alternative to recessed luminaires and the optimal lighting solution particularly for new, energy-efficient buildings with formidable, thermally activated concrete ceilings. Details such as snap hooks to secure the luminaire or the optional spacers for surface-mounting facilitate the installation still further.
