For guests at the Harvey Nichols Restaurant the greatest attraction is free: the view afforded by OXO Tower Wharf's rooftop venue over London and the Themes is magnificent. OXO Tower Bar, Brasserie and Restaurant were opened in 1996 and ever since have been the vital centre of what was then Britain's largest project for combined residential and commercial use.

The massive construction on the South Bank of the Themes was once a Post Office electricity generating station. Between 1928 and 1930 it was converted to a warehouse of the OXO meat extract company. It was on this occasion that it received that most striking feature which has become quite a landmark of the South Bank waterfront: the art deco style tower, whose ornamental, back-lit glass windows displayed the company logo.
