Light, whether artificial or natural, played a big role in the design of the pyramid. The visitors are to forget that they are standing in an underground building. The lighting engineering solution to this problem lay in illuminating the support structure under the glass surface. First and foremost, a brilliant appearance should be lent to this steel structure with the help of the light sources used; the quantity of the lighting is of secondary importance. This requirement necessitates a linear arrangement of point-form light sources. These are installed along the pyramid's plinth as directional luminaires with ultra-narrow-beam 100w halogen reflector lamps.
