Lüdenscheid, July 2017. With over 500 spotlights, floodlights and wall washers that - thanks to a comprehensive track offering - are versatile for use in shops, museums, and many other applications, ERCO is one of the leading service providers in this important lighting segment. The fact that this comprehensive product assortment can be rationally and securely planned is due to the logical, stringent lighting system, which ERCO is consistently implementing the latest enhancements to the spotlight program.
Lights for track installation continue to be the most flexible way to illuminate the architecture, and it is indispensable for scenic lighting, such as in museums, the retail sector, restaurants and residences. Light concepts with spotlights always have two design dimensions: on the one hand, the qualities of the spotlight as a lighting tool with regard to light distribution, light color or luminous flux - on the other hand, the external shape of the spotlight, which must match the application and the individual interior design. These lighting qualities are the means by which the lighting designer interprets and shapes the architecture, defines spaces, highlights objects, and directs the viewer's attention.
Lighting System Creates Planning Security
The ERCO lighting system makes complex lighting technology understandable and easy to use. The planner can find added value in the consistent quality, compatibility and comparability of the spotlights, floodlights and wall washers, even if a manufacturer's different spotlight families differ due to their design, equipment level, and their areas of application. It starts with consistent quality in the LEDs used in terms of light color, chromaticity point and luminous flux. ERCO generally offers the neutral white (4000K) and warm white (3000K) light colors. As a result, the light can produce both subtle contrasts in the room and emphasize the character of colors and materials.
Extra-Wide Flood - The New Light Distribution for Extra-Efficient Lighting
The core of the ERCO lighting system is constituted by the spotlight, floodlight and wall washers' specific lens systems with their different dispersion characteristics. Planners can rest assured that a narrow spot will remain a narrow spot with the exact same narrow beam angle in every spotlight family. All in all, light distribution includes the rotationally symmetric beam characteristics from narrow spot to spot, wide flood to extra-wide flood, axis symmetrical oval flood light distribution and the wall wash asymmetric light distribution. The latter - the primary focus in ERCO lighting technology - determines wall washing, which is indispensable in perception-oriented lighting technology.
The new extra-wide flood light distribution, available for all ERCO spotlights as of January 2017, forms the link to the downlight program in the system: Even with spotlight track concepts, its wide >80° beam angle also allows for evenly flooding basic lighting that offers high energy efficiency and savings due to large fixture spacing - with excellent light glare control. Furthermore, there is also a new way to accentuate large objects, even with little spacing between the light and object.
All ERCO spotlights are provided with both on-board dimming via potentiometer and phase-dimmable in the same luminaire. Its dimming behavior from 100% to 1% allows for the gentlest fade out. The spotlight's control gears - developed in-house by ERCO - provide the highest quality.
The Parscan family is the perfect example of the ERCO light system's added value. As the most comprehensive spotlight family in the ERCO program, it can assume many different lighting tasks in museums and top-level lighting tasks. Including a small size design offering even more leeway for creative applications: It has the proportions of a classic museum spotlight with minimized dimensions. Its control gear is integrated in its luminaire head. Like their larger siblings, their compact swivel mechanisms make them suitable for installation in ceiling channels and, of course, it is available with all seven light distributions and two light colors.
This is ERCO's way of combining two apparent differences: On the one hand, there is a drastically differentiated and rich range of flexible lighting tools; on the other hand, there is exceptionally easier and more secure planning and use, allowing lighting designers to make ideal use of their freedom of choice.
The ERCO Light Factory in the German town of Lüdenscheid is a leading international specialist in architectural lighting using LED technology. The family business, founded in 1934, now operates as a global player with independent sales organisations and partners in 55 countries worldwide. Since 2015 ERCO's portfolio has been 100% LED.
