ERCO catalogue for 2008/09 available from January in 10 languagesTune the light: efficient visual comfort with innovative lighting tools
Lüdenscheid, 21 December 2007 - In addition to the well-established architectural lighting tools for both indoor and outdoor areas, ERCO's "Program 2008/09" also introduces over 840 new products. These include both additions and updates to existing product ranges as well as entirely new and comprehensive product ranges. The new products are particularly noteworthy for their innovative lighting technology designed for state of the art light sources and control gear. The end result is precise lighting tools for highly efficient visual comfort - products that allow architectural lighting to be tuned for optimum lighting quality and conservation of resources.
ERCO's expertise in lighting technology design and manufacture are most revealed through the new Spherolit reflectors. Based on intricate computer simulations and designed used CAD/CAM systems, the reflector has been fragmented into a multitude of individual, three-dimensional, spherical domes, known as "spherolites". By shaping the geometry of each of these spherolites individually a wide range of reflector characteristics can be obtained - from narrow spot to wide flood. Asymmetric characteristics too can be produced. Combined with a high light output ratio, the reflected light is of the highest quality: the beams are extremely smooth, striation-free and have clean, softly fading edges.
The Spherolit reflectors are used throughout the new Emanon and Cantax spotlight ranges as well as in the Compar recessed spotlights and Compact HIT downlights. Emanon was designed by Yves Béhar from the fuseproject design studio. In much the same way as a modern camera, the lighting technology and the control gear are united within one flowing, compact form. An exceptional product within this range is the Emanon projector spotlight with a DALI-controlled Goborotator. Using two independently rotating gobos, this unit allows for scenographic effects - as known in the world of theatre and special events - to be available for continuous operation in architectural lighting applications.
The minimalist design of the new Cantax spotlight range from Naoto Fukasawa makes a clear statement. Drawing on ERCO's latest developments in lighting engineering, Cantax offers professional lighting quality for applications in shops, galleries, restaurants or private residences.
The special requirements of retail lighting were incorporated in the design concept for the Compar recessed ceiling luminaire. Now even complex lighting tasks from this area of application can be effectively fulfilled using Compar, especially as they have seven different light intensity distributions, a previously unattained figure.
There are new wallwashers and square luminaires which supplement the Nadir and Tesis series of in-ground and in-floor luminaires. As well as a complete redesign of the Nadir range which now has a new look with a reversible trim-detail and an even shallower recess depth.
Numerous new components have been developed for the ERCO Light System DALI lighting control system. So that now, for instance, the integrated Light Studio software with the Light Sequencer now feature a module for setting up sequences of light scenes and a new screen that makes available all the creative possibilities of the new Goborotator luminaires. A number of alternative input devices, such as movement sensors or twilight switches (e.g. for calling up pre-defined light scenes), can now be connected to the redesigned digital inputs of the ERCO Light Server.
The choice of outdoor luminaires has been expanded by the addition of the Kubus luminaires and the Midipoll range of bollard luminaires. Kubus facade luminaires and floor washlights are unobtrusive, ultra-compact cuboid designs that provide powerful lighting effects. Equipped with LEDs or metal halide lamps, they satisfy the highest requirements for visual comfort. In the Lightmark product range, ERCO now offers models which can be recessed in walls in addition to the existing bollard and facade luminaires.
The new ERCO catalogue provides detailed information on the entire range of presented products on almost 800 pages. From January it will be available for downloading in ten language versions at

About ERCO
ERCO Leuchten GmbH, Lüdenscheid, is one of the leading companies in the luminaire industry. The family business founded in 1934 now operates with over 60 subsidiaries, branches and agencies all around the world. Working together with internationally renowned designers, lighting engineers and architects, ERCO develops hardware and software for all areas of architectural lighting: luminaires and lighting systems for indoor and outdoor areas, as well as lighting control and software for scenographic lighting applications. In keeping with the corporate philosophy of "Light not luminaires," lighting equipment is not offered simply as furnishing for rooms, but rather luminaries are offered as instruments of lighting design. Many demanding architectural projects are illuminated using ERCO equipment, including the Berlin Reichstag, the Louvre in Paris and the Guggenheim Museum in Bilbao. In 2006 ERCO's over 1000 strong worldwide workforce produced sales of 150 million euros.
