EuroShop 2008: ERCO’s new Compar and Compact HIT recessed ceiling luminaires designed for highly efficient retail lighting

Strong light for captivating displays

Lüdenscheid, 23 February 2008 - The Compar and Compact HIT luminaire ranges from ERCO with innovative lighting technology, including the ingenious Spherolit technology, establishes a new generation of recessed ceiling luminaires for the retail sector.

The Compar recessed spotlight has been developed specifically to meet the lighting requirements in shops. Each of the luminaires is designed around the new ERCO Spherolit technology. There are five different Spherolit reflectors to provide an unparalleled variety of different light distribution patterns from identical recessed spotlights. The light quality is of the highest standard, making it ideal for even complex retail sector lighting tasks to be handled effectively. These Compar recessed spotlights have rotationally symmetrical narrow spot, spot, flood or wide flood reflectors to provide flexible accent lighting, while Compar Spherolit wallwashers with unique reflectors produce asymmetrical light distribution to illuminate vertical surfaces. The recessed spotlights can be fitted with a display lens so that they produce an effective oval-shaped beam of light. Depending on whether the display lens is used with the Spherolit flood or spot reflectors, the beam and intensity will be suitable for different applications. These spotlights are ideal for the highly efficient illumination of goods which are displayed in rows such as tables or shelves. The choice of either metal halide lamp or high-pressure sodium vapour lamp in a variety of wattages adds to the scope of designer creativity.

For equally brilliant and economical ambient lighting, in the retail sector, ERCO offers Compact HIT - a range of downlights fitted with wide flood Spherolit reflectors. This range follows an alternative path to that of the Darklight technology, which is the characteristic of all the established ERCO downlight ranges. These luminaires are designed exclusively for energy-efficient 20W to 70W metal halide lamps. To ensure good glare control, the lamp is shielded using an anti-dazzle cap which has a mirror-finished exterior. The brilliant reflection of the Spherolit reflector and the non-reflecting protective cover glass gives this downlight an attractive, almost magical appearance in the ceiling. All in all this means that the Compact HIT provides a unique combination of light efficiency, shallow recessing dimensions, visual comfort, and cost-effectiveness.
