Light + Building 2008: ERCO presents Emanon and Cantax, two innovative spotlight ranges for specific lighting concepts
Efficient lighting instruments for effective displays
Lüdenscheid, 23 February 2008 - ERCO has introduced two new spotlight ranges to extend the creative options for lighting designers and enable them to implement the principle of "tune the light" effortlessly and creatively. The Emanon and Cantax spotlights are particularly suitable for lighting concepts in the retail sector as they combine efficient visual comfort with the flexibility of professional instruments for scenographic lighting effects.
The concise design of the Emanon spotlight was devised by Yves Béhar from Design Studio fuseproject (San Francisco). The housing consists of high-quality plastic shells in white or silver to contain the lighting technology and the control gear in a flowing form. The design invites intuitive handling in the same way as a camera to align the spotlight to illuminate the particular scene. Components such as the lamp and the reflector are housed in a cylindrical metal carrier with controlled ventilation, to provide heat dissipation. The flat part of the housing with dimpled surface indicates that it can be handled. This part is thermally decoupled and contains the electronic or the DALI-compatible, control gear.
The Emanon projection spotlights can be used with two types of projection lenses for either medium or narrow beam light distribution.
A unique version is to be found in the Emanon projection spotlight with DALI-controlled Goborotator - the first of its kind in the world. Through the use of any two independently controllable rotating glass or metal gobos, structured glasses or colour filters, the multiplicity of projection effects can be fascinating and dynamic. Both the direction and speed of rotation can be controlled using either the rotary selected on the spotlight or the ERCO Light System DALI with its integral Light Studio software, which is exceptionally convenient for the operation.
The new Cantax range is defined by its clear form. Ideal for use in shops, galleries and restaurants, these spotlights, with their minimalist design devised by Naoto Fukasawa (Tokyo), consisting of the simple geometric forms of cube and cylinder. Both the housing and the single-sided bracket, which contains the wiring, are of cast aluminium and are either powder-coated black or white.
The technical innovations to be found in both the Emanon and the Cantax range include the new Spherolit reflectors. This is available in four different light distribution patterns, from narrow spot to wide flood and they all produce a light quality of the highest standard, which means exceptionally uniform light emission without striations and a clear, slightly diffused edge to the beam. The light distribution of a spotlight can be changed simply by replacing the reflectors, which is simply done by hand, to adapt to a new lighting concept. Where vertical illumination is required both ranges offer two alternatives - the classic lens wallwashers and the Spherolit wallwash reflector. These luminaires are designed for low-voltage halogen or HIT lamps and they are also available in LED varychrome versions.
Please note: LED varychrome versions are not available in the USA. Emanon Goborotator is not available in Japan.
