Lüdenscheid, November 2018. Recognising strengths and setting standards - according to this guiding principle, the Manufacturing Excellence Award honours outstanding companies each year and thus creates a benchmark in Germany's industrial landscape. This year ERCO emerges as the overall winner and sets new standards as a highly innovative company.
The respected and established Manufacturing Excellence competition was founded in Great Britain more than 30 years ago, and since 2004 it has also rewarded best-practice solutions in companies in Germany. In addition to overall victory, the luminaire manufacturer from Lüdenscheid also achieved first place in the categories of information technology, product innovation, customer orientation and management culture/employee integration.
The good results are based on a multi-stage application and selection process. This procedure consists of a self-assessment with audit and business reviews, in which experts from science and business visit the company and assess topics such as production control and work processes as well as leadership and teamwork. Following companies such as MAN, Daimler and Siemens, ERCO now joins the ranks of overall winners in the Manufacturing Excellence competition.
Motivation for the future
ERCO was the first classic luminaire manufacturer with a product spectrum based entirely on LED technology, and the company now has numerous IoT-enabled product series in its portfolio. The technological transformation was recognised as an opportunity and utilised to improve manufacturing technologies and products. For ERCO, the award is a confirmation that it has adopted the right path. At the same time, the award motivates to strive for continuous progress. "We will continue to develop the complete range of our processes and adapt them to new IT opportunities in the future. It's still very important to us that ERCO, with its lived values, provides its employees and customers with long-term orientation," stated Marcus Schramm, Managing Director of ERCO.
