Qualitative lighting design for museums
The "No Beer without the Alster Lake" exhibition in the Museum für Hamburgische Geschichte displays diverse exhibits and showcases presents these with rich contrast. The lighting concept subdivides the space into foreground, middle ground and background. The directed light from the spotlights achieves effective modelling on the objects as well as attractive brilliance. The lighting design incorporated track and spotlights with interchangeable light distributions to also provide a flexible lighting infrastructure for future exhibitions.
Emphasising room depth via wallwashing
The uniform illumination of the rear wall gives depth to the space. Wallwashers efficiently create a bright impression of the room. The illuminated vertical planes simultaneously intensify the contrast to the dark room elements, thereby creating an exciting atmosphere.
Floodlighting for large exhibits and orientation
Floodlighting walls, tables and floors with the linear oval flood light beam provides an efficient method of emphasising linear exponents or groups of pictures as well as indicating routes through the exhibition.
Accenting for emphasising objects
Accent lighting with narrow light beams establishes an intensive contrast to the surroundings, thereby creating hierarchies of perception. An angle of incidence of approximately 30° effectively models exhibits via light and shadow. Forms and textures are also emphasised. Because spotlights for track can be mounted and aligned without tools they provide ideal lighting instruments for the quick and resource-protecting-conserving commissioning of exhibitions.
