Damage factor

A measure for assessing the relative damaging effect of light on light-sensitive materials. The damage factor takes the spectral composition of light into account, since short-wave radiation has a higher damage potential than long-wave radiation. In museum and display case lighting, it serves as an important evaluation parameter for balancing good visibility against long-term protection of the objects.
