Snoot

A cylindrical or conical shielding element that restricts the light emitted by a luminaire in order to optimize → visual comfort. The snoot reduces direct glare by preventing any view into the light source from shallow viewing angles, without significantly affecting the light distribution itself. Compared with → cross-baffle louvers and → honeycomb louvers, the snoot acts in a directionally neutral way and has a greater overall height.

The snoot for → wallwashing has an asymmetrical geometry and reduces direct glare by preventing any view into the light source from below, without affecting the light distribution for wallwashing.
