Light for reception desks in high rooms
The light at reception desks should be prestigious and functional. Double focus downlights are suitable for glare-free general lighting in high rooms.
General lighting with double focus downlights
Reception desks in public buildings for example are often the place of initial contact for visitors and guests. For this reason their lighting should be both prestigious and functional. As part of a zonal, perception-compliant lighting concept, the reception desk can be emphasized in the room with an island of light consisting of horizontal general lighting. This requires luminaires with narrow light distribution that also provide good visual comfort via high glare control for guests and reception personnel. The effect of the lighting is improved if the luminaires are installed outside of the field of view: e.g. by using recessed luminaires in high rooms.
Arrangement of double focus downlights
To avoid single-sided shadowing, the beams of the double focus downlights should superimpose. The following rule of thumb applies for luminaire arrangement: the luminaire spacing (d) should be equal to or less than half the height of the luminaires above the working plane (h). d ≤ h / 2 Tip for luminaire selection: double focus downlights are also suitable for rooms with inclined or arched ceilings. For this purpose special models for inclined ceilings are available, enabling inclination angles to 30°.
