Accenting objects with light
Accent lighting showcases individual products or displays within the retail area. Differences in brightness generate hierarchies in perception that guide the customer. Accent lighting also creates brilliance and the outstanding modelling of details via light and shadow. Interchangeable light distributions allow lighting to be individually matched to the shape and size of the objects.
Rule of thumb for arranging accentuating lighting
An inclination angle (α) of approx. 30° is most suitable for illuminating decoration surfaces. In this way an object is efficiently accented and benefits from good modelling via light and shadow. Shadows caused by the observer are also avoided. α = 30° Tip for luminaire alignment: set a brightness focus in the upper area of the objects to render this location clearly visible from a distance. A brightness ratio of 1:10 between the surroundings and the accent is recommended for high-contrast impact.
