The Museum of Nebraska Art (MONA) in Kearney has undergone a transformative expansion – enhancing how art is viewed, curated, and cared for. Lighting design by Buro Happold integrates ERCO‘s Parscan spotlights with 48W and Casambi wireless controls to deliver flexible, high-precision illumination. Each luminaire supports both accent and wallwash distributions, allowing curators to fine-tune light for each exhibition while maintaining consistency across the museum. By combining both functions within a single fixture type, the design achieved advanced control and versatility with minimal infrastructure – maximizing performance and cost-efficiency. The system also connects to the building network, enabling curatorial teams to manage lighting levels while facilities oversee scheduling and operation.
The same lighting approach extends into the collection storage areas, now visible to visitors highlighting the museums transparency and commitment to conservation. ERCO's lighting solutions ensure consistent color quality, controllability, and visual comfort from the public galleries to the collection spaces.
