In 1969 the Kunsthalle Rostock was the first modern exhibition venue for contemporary art in the GDR. It was considered the "gateway to the world" in a society otherwise largely cut off from the international cultural landscape. Today the Art Hall offers regional, national and international artists a forum set off by the accent lighting of Pollux spotlights.
