Modelling three-dimensional exhibits with accent lighting
Accent lighting creates impressive modelling on sculptures with the play of light and shadow, and form and texture are strikingly emphasised. Exhibits are also given more importance due to the contrast in illumination to the surroundings. The directed light of accent lighting also creates brilliance.
Rule of thumb for arranging accentuating lighting
An inclination angle (α) of approx. 30° is most suitable for illuminating sculptures. In this way an exhibit is efficiently accented and benefits from good modelling via light and shadow. Shadows caused by the observer are also avoided. For illumination from each side, an arrangement (β) of three luminaires each offset by 120° is suitable. For a differentiated lighting level a distinction between main light, fill-in light and back light is recommended.

Tip for luminaire selection:
With exterior ground recessed luminaires observe protection rating IP 68 and a longitudinally watertight connection cable. This prevents humidity being drawn into the cable when the luminaire cools down.
