What is light to see by?
At ERCO, "ambient luminescence" is the first and most fundamental form of light.
This term can be translated as "light to see by". This element provides general illumination of the surroundings. It ensures that the space, its objects, and the people within it are visible.
What is light to look at?
Light to look at: accent lighting focuses attention on an object in the space.
To achieve differentiation, Kelly introduced a second form of light, which he called "focal glow", translatable as "light to look at".
Here light is given the task of actively contributing to the way information is prioritised.
The most brightly lit zones draw attention.
What is light to view?
The third form of light, "Play of Brilliants" or "light to view", means that light can not only point to information but also constitute information in its own right.
This applies in particular to effects of brilliance, coloured light, and dynamic lighting effects created by point light sources on reflective or refractive surfaces.
Yet the light source itself can also be perceived as brilliant.
