Damage factor

A measure for assessing the relative damaging effect of light on light-sensitive materials. The damage factor takes the spectral composition of light into account, as short-wavelength radiation has a greater damage potential than long-wavelength radiation. In museum and display case lighting, it serves as an important assessment parameter for balancing good visibility against long-term protection of the objects.
