Exposure

A measure of the total light acting on an object, calculated as the product of the incident illuminance (lx) and the duration of illumination (h). Exposure is expressed in lux hours (lxh) and thus describes the light load integrated over time. In museum and exhibition lighting, it serves as a decisive basis for estimating permissible light levels with regard to the ageing and deterioration of exhibits.
