Snoot

A cylindrical or conical shielding element that limits the light emitted from a luminaire in order to optimise → visual comfort. The snoot reduces direct glare by preventing any view into the light source from shallow viewing angles, without significantly affecting the light distribution itself. Compared with the → cross baffle and the → honeycomb louvre, the snoot has a direction-neutral effect and a greater overall height.

The snoot for → wallwashing has an asymmetrical geometry and reduces direct glare by preventing any view into the light source from below, without affecting the light distribution used for wallwashing.
