ERCO Case Study: Refined fitout that reflects a brand

August 2025 Case Study

A corporate office is the public face of a brand, sending direct and indirect messages to visitors about what the company promises, and providing employees with a workplace that reflects what is expected of the team.

When Aston Consulting went to work for Sydney Corporate Advisory firm Grant Samuel, the brief was to transform the workspace into a refined and functional environment, enhancing connectivity and functionality, and delivering aesthetic appeal reflective of the Grant Samuel name.

Interior Matters

Set high on the 20th floor of Sydney’s Governor Macquarie Tower, the Grant Samuel office is blessed with plenty of natural light. Materials chosen for the fitout are largely in natural tones, with leather and wood complemented by glass dividing walls and an abundance of artwork.

Tailored Lighting Solutions

Aston Consulting sought to add a tailored lighting solution that complemented the architectural design of the new interior and met the functional demands of the space.

ERCO Invia, a 48V modular continuous line system with flexible lens technology, was selected for general lighting. Invia is a relatively new addition to the ERCO stable of lighting solutions, but Aston found it led in flexibility of mounting options, optics including wallwashing, low-glare, wide beam distribution, and the practicality of being able to incorporate accessories such as track and spotlights.

The light structure solution combined lit corner modules with wide flood downlights and wallwashing, in all-purpose 3500K throughout. Nick van Someren of ERCO Channel Partner Jadecross adds, “The lens technology of Invia is all you’d expect of an ERCO luminaire, making it the best linear wallwash on the market, but the thing that impressed me most was its efficiency per module: 3.5W per 300mm.”

Adding Accents

Adding spotlights to the Invia light structure gives a clean and cohesive outcome. At Grant Samuel, Aston chose ERCO 48V Parscan spotlights that fit neatly into the Invia track, to accent artwork in meeting rooms.

ERCO Quinta recessed spotlights with directional capability were used in areas with ceilings to give ultimate flexibility as the artworks’ scale was not known at the time of design. Interchangeable lenses means the light output can be adapted for the size and scale of artworks (even if the choice changes over time!) and allows for colour filters to ensure optimal presentation.

Upgrading from a more enclosed floorplan with poor acoustics and minimal natural light, Grant Samuel employees have welcomed the new internal design. Lighting plays an important role, and it is rewarding to see that specifiers have recognised ERCO’s products for their strengths: high quality light, low glare, and the flexibility of multi-product track structures and interchangeable lens spotlights and directionals.
