How can the duration of visits be extended with light?

Creating quality of stay with light

Extending the duration of visits in shops with light: Defining private zones in the store with light

Slowing down and calming with light

In addition to the display areas for merchandise, ancillary areas provide the chance to subtly communicate brand messages and to extend the visit in the store via calmer zones. Warm light colours have a slowing-down effect in such conditions. Low light point heights e.g. with use of pendant luminaires also create an intimate atmosphere in high rooms.

Creating room depth with light

Focused brightness areas along the most important axes of view also create an impression of distance in narrow rooms. The various accents send the eye on a trip of discovery. The room is given further depth with wallwashing in the background, for example on large-scale graphics.

Setting points of interest with light

Decorative elements near to seating areas also provide attractive points of interest. Luminaires that not only illuminate but are also themselves noticeable due to their design, for example with translucent elements, can be a part of the general display. As pendant luminaires they visibly reduce the room height and create a private zone that sets itself apart from the surroundings, also providing sufficient light for reading.

Establishing accents in the room with light

Small light beams also achieve a significant eye-catching effect if the brightness ratio between the surrounding area and the accent is at least 1:10. Several individual accents are able to create a diversified ambience for lingering.
