Part L Luminaires

Welcome to ERCO Lighting UK, where innovation meets sustainability in the realm of lighting design.

Most of ERCO Lighting's luminaires comply with Part L standards, and especially our IKU, Jilly, and Skim downlights which are ideal for offices and other downlight applications.

ERCO emphasises energy efficiency and appropriate illumination levels using a zonal lighting approach.

Part L, outlined in the Building Regulations and based on CIBSE’s SLL Lighting Handbook, sets criteria for general and display lighting, dictating luminaire efficacy, power usage, and metering requirements. This regulatory framework, detailed in the Building Regulations 2010 Approved Document L Volume 2, 2021 edition, plays a pivotal role in shaping energy-efficient and environmentally conscious lighting solutions. These are ideal for offices and other downlight applications.

Part L also highlights the importance of lighting controls, advocating for automatic controls in unoccupied spaces and daylight controls in occupied areas for enhanced energy management.

What is Part L and How to Achieve It:

Part L Compliance: Part L focuses on achieving optimal energy efficiency in fixed lighting while ensuring appropriate levels of illumination. It is a key component of the Building Regulations, emphasising sustainability in lighting design.

Luminaire Efficacy for General Lighting: Part L specifies criteria for general lighting, requiring an average luminaire efficacy of 95 luminaire lumens per circuit-watt. It should also observe the Lighting Energy Numeric Indicator (LENI) method.

Display Lighting Standards: For display lighting, Part L outlines specific criteria, including an average light source efficacy of 80 light source lumens per circuit-watt and a rated power usage not exceeding 0.3W/m² in each space. ERCO's commitment to compliance ensures our luminaires meet these stringent standards.

Metering and Controls: Part L emphasises the importance of metering lighting energy consumption and implementing effective controls. ERCO Lighting seamlessly integrates with wired and wireless technology, providing efficient lighting control for all applications.

These measures align with Part L's vision of creating spaces where lighting is not just functional but also intelligently managed for optimal energy efficiency.

At ERCO, we invite you to explore a world where style and compliance coexist harmoniously, providing you with lighting solutions that not only illuminate spaces but also contribute to a sustainable and responsible future.
