Using light to accentuate artwork

Artwork in the room can be emphasised in subtle ways using only slight contrast with the surroundings or set off in rich contrast using sharp-edged projections. The beam angle helps to isolate the artwork in the room or set it in a wider context. The infrastructure with track system enables flexible lighting for changing room usage. Lighting tools include floodlights and projector spotlights.


Overall lighting concept

Adding light emphasis in the foreground, middle ground and background creates spatial depth in the gallery. Floodlighting in the foreground ensures high-contrast modelling of the sculpture. Sharp-edged illumination of the pictures on the wall gives the impression of self-illuminating artwork. Accent lighting in the background helps guide the way through the exhibition.



The directed beam of the floodlight creates a play of light and shadow full of contrast carving out the profile of the artwork. The oval beam ensures efficient illumination of the long sculpture.



Matching the projection surface to the size of the picture gives the impression of a self-illuminating picture on the wall. The framing attachment on the projector spotlight helps to balance perspective distortion resulting from the luminaire position on the ceiling.
