Arario Gallery Seoul

Arario Gallery Seoul in Space, under the stewardship of the prominent business executive and globally acclaimed art collector Kim Chang-il, curates an extensive collection exceeding 3,700 works from Korea and around the world. The gallery's enduring exhibition, Arario Collection, unfolds the evolution of modern art over a span of 40 years. Notably, the gallery building, once the property of SPACE, an architectural office, exemplifies the architectural concept of symbiosis.

Having previously housed SPACE, the gallery's architecture eloquently embodies the principle of coexistence. Exterior tiles are meticulously crafted to blend seamlessly with Changdeokgung Palace and the nearby hanoks, while the facade is adorned with ivy branches, creating a symbiotic relationship with the natural surroundings.

Employing Jilly luminaires to floodlight a room highlights their versatile functionality and effectiveness in lighting design. These luminaires serve a dual purpose by not only providing ample illumination but also minimizing the number of fixtures required, contributing to a clean and uncluttered ceiling. The focus on reducing the number of luminaires not only simplifies the visual landscape but also enhances the overall ambiance of the room. This minimalist approach to lighting design not only reduces visual distractions but also contributes to energy efficiency.

Moreover, the flexibility of ERCO luminaires proves advantageous, especially in spaces where art exhibits are subject to change, such as Parscan and Jilly here. The adaptability of these luminaires allows for easy adjustments to accommodate different artistic displays, providing a dynamic lighting solution that can evolve with the changing exhibition layouts. This adaptability not only enhances the visual appeal of the artworks but also underscores the practicality of the luminaires in the context of ever-changing art installations.

ERCO's framers are recognised for their precision and capacity to accentuate artworks in galleries. With meticulous engineering, these lights offer focused and adjustable illumination, ensuring accurate color rendering and adaptability for various canvas sizes. Their reduced heat and UV emission contribute to the preservation of delicate artworks, while directional control allows for dynamic visual experiences. The interplay of light and shadow created by framers emphasizes textures, bringing paintings to life by revealing vibrant colors and intricate details. In essence, ERCO's framers are essential tools in art illumination, enhancing the overall visual impact and showcasing artworks as intended by the artist.

Dimming ERCO Jilly luminaires for a glowing effect around a particular art piece is a testament to the nuanced control and aesthetic possibilities these fixtures offer. The strategic use of dimmed lighting allows for a subtle yet impactful illumination, creating an ethereal ambiance that draws attention to the featured artwork.

Castor lights that promote Dark Sky Preservation, directing light exactly where it is needed. In essence, taking note of dark sky preservation is a multi-beneficial lighting technique that safeguards ecosystems, human well-being, scientific exploration, cultural heritage, and economic sustainability. This prevents unnecessary light spills, reducing light glares to passer-bys and acts as a guide for visitors.
